We aggregate information directly from flight school websites, FAA records, and other public sources. We also reach out directly to schools via phone and email to verify details, fill in gaps, and gather information that isn't publicly listed. All data is regularly reviewed and updated.

The score is a 0–100 rating combining website transparency, pricing competitiveness, fleet quality, instructor depth, DPE availability, onsite maintenance, and more. Higher scores indicate schools that make it easy for students to get the training they need.

We source pricing from each school's website and periodically contact schools directly by phone and email to gather or confirm their latest rates. If a school doesn't publish prices, that lowers their transparency score. Rates can change, so we always recommend confirming current figures directly with the school before making any decisions.

Part 61 is more flexible and self-paced; Part 141 follows an FAA-approved structured curriculum. Part 141 can require fewer flight hours for some certificates. Both produce the same licenses.

That said, in practice almost nobody finishes in the minimum hours regardless of which part they train under, so don't pick a school based on hour minimums alone. Focus on costs, aircraft quality, and instructor availability instead.

We update school data on a rolling basis through a combination of automated checks and direct outreach. Schools that have claimed their profile can also push updates to their listing at any time.
