ADS-B In/Out

ADS-B In/Out

Combined ADS-B Transceiver

A combined ADS-B In/Out unit is the most common way to satisfy the 2020 ADS-B Out mandate while also gaining the situational awareness benefits of ADS-B In. Units like the Garmin GTX 345 replace the existing Mode C transponder and add the receive capability in a single panel installation, with no extra hardware or antennas required.

For flight training, an In/Out unit is the best of both worlds. The aircraft is legal to fly in all controlled airspace, and the cockpit display shows nearby traffic and live weather without a subscription. If you see ADS-B In/Out listed in a school's fleet specs, expect the aircraft to have both the compliance box checked and the full situational awareness picture available on their IFD or compatible display.
