EFIS

EFIS swaps out the traditional panel of analog gauges for digital displays. This can be a full glass cockpit like the Garmin G1000 or G3X (a Primary Flight Display and IFD side by side) or individual electronic instruments like the Garmin G5, which replaces a single analog attitude or heading indicator.

Glass cockpit trainers are now the norm at most flight schools, and airlines and charter operators expect incoming pilots to know their way around them. Getting some EFIS time early is worth it, even if you start on steam gauges.
