About
Grand Flying Club is all about being involved in aviation at the lowest possible cost. We enjoy restoring aircraft and using the talents and abilities of the club members to serve the club as a whole. We currently have one training pilot and several members working on various ratings and licenses. Come join us in Northern California where we enjoy beautiful flying weather at the KRDD (Redding Municipal) controlled airfield. We 501-C-7 IRS mutual interest non-profit, non-charitable (no tax deduction for any donations) flying club. Membership is by invitation only. Any prospective member must work with us for a few times so the other members are able to discern whether or not an invitation should be extended. The basis for the club is to minimize the dollars out of pocket while enjoying aviation. Every club member is required to participate in rebuilding aircraft and maintaining our aircraft. They become subject matter experts on the club aircraft because they rebuilt them.... and then the club has aircraft that are trusted and will be relatively maintenance free for years... because each aircraft is stripped down to the basics, wings off, etc, and we re-build... new wiring, new glass, overhauled of new instruments, bearings, seals, etc. Our social programs: we meet every Saturday morning for breakfast and then onto the hangars for the weekly workday. Once a month, we host/present a pilot safety seminar that we call PIC Seminars (Pilot in Command). The local EAA chapter will be allowing us to use their facility starting in March 2021. We have a 1963 C model, C-150 flying, next and 75% done is a 1952 C model Bonanza, then a 1966 H Cessna 172 and another 150 F model.
