Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic
An A&P mechanic holds an FAA certificate covering both airframe and engine work, so they can legally perform and sign off most aircraft maintenance. If the school has an A&P on staff, maintenance gets done on site.
Schools that do their own maintenance get planes back in the air faster. If something squawks on Monday with an A&P on staff, it might be fixed by Wednesday. If they outsource it, you could be waiting until next week, and that delay comes directly out of your training schedule.
