TCI

A TCI is a CFI who is authorized to give instruction in turbine-powered aircraft, typically turboprops or light jets. The rating requires additional training and testing beyond the standard CFI certificate.

Most flight schools operate piston aircraft, so a TCI on staff is a signal that the school also offers turbine transition training. If you are headed toward a career that involves turboprop or jet operations, getting instruction from a TCI early on is useful preparation.
