ASES CFI

ASES stands for Airplane Single Engine Sea. A CFI with an ASES endorsement is authorized to provide instruction for the seaplane rating, which covers floatplanes and flying boats on water. The ASES rating is an add-on to an existing pilot certificate.

Seaplane training requires a school with water access and the appropriate aircraft, so ASES CFIs are less common than standard land-based instructors. If you see this credential listed, it means the school or instructor offers seaplane training in addition to regular flying.
