Air Ventures Flying School is a respected and award-winning Part 61 flight school located at North Central State Airport (KSFZ) in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Since its founding in 2010 by FAA Master Flight Instructor Doug Auclair, the school has embraced a truly student-centered philosophy—prioritizing long-term pilot proficiency, confidence, and community, rather than rapid certificate completion. Our proprietary Foundational Based Training© curriculum emphasizes mastery of both technical and real-world skills: from fueling and flight planning to aircraft handling and logistical preparedness. This approach empowers students to navigate aviation with competence and independence. At Air Ventures, learning takes place in a welcoming, inclusive environment. Our fleet of four Cherokee 140s ensures dependable training availability, while our flight simulator, pilot lounge, and social atmosphere foster learning and camaraderie. We complement our training with enriching community events—such as chili cook-offs, summer luaus, fly-outs, Galas, and trips to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh—many of which become cherished traditions.
