AMEL CFI
AMEL CFI
Airplane Multi-Engine Land Instructor
AMEL stands for Airplane Multi-Engine Land. A CFI with an AMEL endorsement can provide instruction in twin-engine piston aircraft like the Piper Seminole or Beechcraft Duchess. This is equivalent to what is commonly called an MEI (Multi-Engine Instructor).
If you want to add a multi-engine rating to your certificate, you need a school with both an AMEL-rated instructor and a multi-engine aircraft in the fleet. The multi-engine add-on typically takes 10-15 hours of flight training.
