Instrument Meteorological Conditions
Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) describes weather that falls below VFR minimums: clouds, fog, haze, or precipitation that reduces visibility to the point where you cannot safely navigate by outside visual references alone. Flying in IMC without an instrument rating is illegal and dangerous.
Training in an EFIS and WAAS GPS-equipped aircraft makes simulated IMC time (under the hood) more realistic. An IFD with weather overlay also teaches you to plan around actual weather, which is just as important as knowing how to fly in it.
