Non-WAAS GPS Navigator

A standard GPS navigator without WAAS augmentation. It handles en-route navigation and basic LNAV approaches fine, but it cannot fly the more precise LPV approaches. Older units like the Garmin GNS 430 (without the "W") fall into this category.

Non-WAAS GPS is perfectly adequate for VFR training. If an instrument rating is your goal, you will want meaningful time in a WAAS aircraft since LPV approaches have become the practical standard in day-to-day IFR flying.
