Chandelle Flying Club, Inc., is an incorporated not-for-profit club based in Austin, Texas that was established for the flying pleasure of its members (shareholders). Chandelle operates similar to an aircraft partnership in that each member is a partial owner of the corporation that owns the aircraft. Our bylaws limit the membership to a maximum of thirty (30), however we have have limited membership to 28 owner pilots for the foreseeable future. Each owner/pilot owns a share of our 'C Corp' which in turn owns the club assets. Currently, we own a 1980 Piper Dakota, a 1978 Piper Archer II, and a 1976 Piper Warrior. All three aircraft are IFR certified with IFR GPS units, and are based at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) at Signature flight support. The Dakota qualifies as a Technically Advanced Airplane. All three planes are kept in hangars. Presently all airplanes are owned by the club, we have never done a leaseback. Only our owner pilots can fly our aircraft, we do not rent to nonmembers. There are no required minimum overnight charges. Owner/pilots can schedule an airplane for up to seven days, 30 days in advance. Owner/pilots can schedule longer flights more than 30 days in advance with Board of Directors approval. For example on most years you'll see at least one of our airplanes at AirVenture. Joining Chandelle Flying Club is a much less expensive way to Fly General Aviation Aircraft than your traditional flight school. There is no better way to fly airplanes in Austin, TX than Chandelle Flying Club. Operations of the club are delegated to elected members who run for positions of officers, board of directors, and maintenance officers.Basic aircraft maintenance is performed by volunteer members, and more extensive aircraft maintenance is outsourced to professionals. To become a member of Chandelle, you must purchase a share from an existing member and be approved by our board of directors. Shares are usually available.
